Psychologists provide psychological assessment, psychotherapy and counselling, seeking to identify the source of problems and determine treatment. Clinical Psychologists usually work in hospitals or in private practice, while Counselling Psychologists provide assessment, counselling and therapy to individuals, groups and organisations.

Note: Prospective candidates must apply in good time and may be required to present themselves for a personal interview. In addition, candidates may be required to furnish the Department with the names of two referees, one of whom must be a senior university lecturer who is able to report on their suitability for training. Entry into the Internship programme will be on selection by the Department of Psychology.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to the studies for the degree of Master of Arts in Psychology only if they have obtained an Honours or equivalent degree in Psychology, of which the course content and the candidate’s level of achievement are considered to be satisfactory by the Department of Psychology.
