Financial Information Systems Analyst

Financial Information Systems Analysts use knowledge of the financial industry to examine, audit and investigate corporate assets, investments, debts and potential for growth. They use strategic information gathered from financial and economic research as a barometer for investments and mergers.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR CURRENT GRADE 12 LEARNERS

  • Admission Points Score of 38.
  • Minimum NSC requirements for degree entry must be met.
  • English, Afrikaans or isiXhosa (home language or first additional language) on at least level 5 (60-69%).
  • NSC achievement rating of at least 5 (60-69%) for Mathematics.
  • Applicants with an Admission Points Score between 30 and 37 may be referred to write the Access Assessment Battery before a decision is made on whether or not to admit the applicant to the course.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS WHO MATRICULATED PRIOR TO 2008

  • Matriculation exemption/endorsement.
  • Mathematics minimum pass mark of HG=E or SG=C.
  • Learners must score at least 31 points on the university’s SPS rating scale. 
  • Applicants who do not meet the requirements for direct admission, and who have an SPS of 18 or higher, may be referred to write the Access Assessment Battery before a decision is made on whether or not to admit the applicant to the course.

Unless otherwise approved by the Head of Department, and subject to General Rule G3.6, the prerequisites for entry into the Honours modules are as follows:

  • A pass mark in Auditing 3A (ROV301) or General Auditing 3A (RGOV301) and a pass mark in Auditing 3B (ROV302) or a mark of at least 55% for General Auditing 3B (RGOV302).
  • A weighted average of at least 60% for Database Systems (WRDV301), Project (WRRV301), Management Information Systems 3.1 (WRBV301), Management Information Systems 3.2 (WRBV302), User Interface Design (WUIV301), ERP Systems 3.1 (WREV301) and ERP Systems 3.2 (WREV302).

provided that all these marks have been achieved in the two years preceding the year of registration for the Honours programme.
