Lindiwe Tshabalala

Lindiwe Tshabalala is the principal of Thuthuzekani Primary School in the Gauteng West District. Lindi has a Masters Degree in Mathematics Education obtained from Wits University. She is currently studying towards a PhD in Mathematics Education at UNISA under the supervision of Prof Mamokgethi Setati. Lindi has presented papers on mathematics education both locally and internationally since 1998. She presented mathematics papers in Namibia, Kenya, Namibia and Mexico. She received the Vice Chancellor Alumni volunteers' award from Wits University in October 2009. She also received a Feroza Adams Excellence & Leadership Award in June 2004 from the University of the Witwatersrand for being the best female postgraduate with excellent research ability for academic achievement and community leadership.

Lindi has an Executive Leadership in Teaching and Learning diploma obtained from Wits University and a Management, Leadership and Governance diploma obtained from Matthew Goniwe and the University of Johannesburg She serves as a facilitator for Management, Leadership and Governance at the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and also participated in an Educational Management study tour in Uganda with the Cum Laude Matthew Goniwe team. In 2005, she also won an Excellence Award in Primary School Leadership at District level (Gauteng West, D2) and was one of the finalists at Gauteng Provincial level.

She is currently serving on the Workbooks Writing Team for Grades 1-6 for Department of Basic Education. She designed grade 6 and grade 9 Mathematics items for HSRC in July 2007 and 2008, respectively. She also evaluated 394 Intermediate Phase Mathematical items for HSRC in 2009. She has also served as a Presenter of Touch - Talk Maths for Vivlia. She supervised the translation of FET Biology and Physical Science textbooks for SAIDE IN 2007 and also authored the Platinum Mathematics Textbooks for grade 4 to 6 mathematics for Maskew Miller and Longman

She is currently serving on the LOC of Congress 2011 and has also served as the Chairperson of the AMESA Kagiso Branch and the Gauteng Regional Activities Coordinator for the Association for Mathematics Education in South Africa (AMESA) since 2005 to date.
