Biography
The faculty encompasses several academic schools including the Business School; School of Industrial Psychology & Human Resources; School of Accounting; School of Economics, Development & Tourism; and School of Management Sciences.
As a strategic leader, he guides the faculty in actively pursuing curriculum transformation, aligning academic offerings with the evolving needs of the business sector and broader society. Prof Lloyd emphasises producing work-ready graduates who are able to contribute meaningfully to economic development, social progress and ethical leadership. His strategic priorities include embedding employability, innovation, and sustainability into curriculum programmes, and maintaining academic rigour and alignment with national and global business trends.
Prof Lloyd actively engages with external stakeholders, from industry leaders to government bodies to community programmes, with the aim of strengthening the University’s contribution to skills development and socio-economic empowerment. This underscores his leadership philosophy of connecting academic institutions with societal needs, particularly in addressing unemployment through education, skills development and entrepreneurship.
Prof Lloyd’s postgraduate qualifications include a Master of Commerce (MCom) and Doctor of Commerce (DCom) from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela University). He contributes to scholarly discourse, particularly in areas such as business ethics, organisational culture and economic policy and development.
