2022 USA relationship building and resource mobilisation trip

During our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sibongile Muthwa’s October 2022 visit to the United States along with seven other University representatives, members of the University's delegation visited the Washington, D.C. and New York City areas.  The purpose of the trip was to reconnect with existing members of our US-based ecosystem, including alumni and other partners, and to cultivate relationships with potential new members such as US universities, philanthropic organizations, government institutions and representatives of the private sector.

We look forward to continuing to engage with our US-based  hosts with the goal of advancing education for a sustainable and socially just world.  We are grateful to our partners at the South African Embassy in Washington D.C., the Permanent Mission of South Africa to the United Nations, the South African Consulate General in New York, the King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) and The International Social Impact Institute (our strategic partner in the US)  for their assistance in making the delegation’s visit to the United States, which consisted of 50+ meetings and four special events in six cities, so successful.

Below, please find highlight videos of our trip, along with a feature article by KBFUS about our Vice-Chancellor’s visionary leadership of our university, titled, Higher Education in Africa: Fostering Leadership for the Global Century.
