Chair in Community, Adult and Worker Education

SARChI has granted a Research Chair in Community, Adult and Worker Education to Professor Salim Vally at the University of Johannesburg. The motivation for this Chair was based on an application specifically premised on a partnership between the University of Johannesburg and the Nelson Mandela University because of the history of joint work and collaboration between the Centre for Education Rights and Transformation (CERT) and the Centre for Integrate Post-School Education and Training (CIPSET) at these two universities respectively.  Their joint work will interalia support the development of an honours level course and the supervision of Masters and PhD students registered at Nelson Mandela University on the issues germane to the work of the Chair.

 

The Activities of the Chair will include:

  • Research – (see research areas under the call for post-graduate bursaries here).
  • Development of a course work honours and masters programme and its supervision.
  • Post-graduate supervision of masters and doctoral candidates.
  • The dissemination and publication of research outputs.
  • Networking and collaboration both nationally and internationally.
