1000 on-campus Mandela Uni staff vaccinations

02/08/2021

Nelson Mandela University’s Vaccination Centre has hit the 1000 mark with that many vaccinations dispensed to staff since opening on 14 June.

The University’s Occupational Health team reached this milestone on Friday, July 30, and also surpassed the 5000 mark a week earlier with its vaccinations to both the public and staff.

By last week, the University had given 5437 vaccinations, be it the two-shot Pfizer or single-shot J&J vaccine to those over 35 years and older, frontline healthcare workers and essential services employees.

In line with the national rollout, the North Campus site can now also vaccinate members of the media who were given the go-ahead to register and be vaccinated at the weekend.

The largest group, those aged 18 to 34, will be eligible for their vaccines from 1 September.
