Beware of false information

01/09/2021

The University is aware of a hoax message circulating via WhatsApp today insisting that a certain group of students be vaccinated on a particular day to be able to write a future test.

This is not true.

While everyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to have the vaccine to protect themselves and others against COVID-19 and hopefully return to some semblance of normalcy on campus, the decision to be vaccinated lies with the individual.

Please also be advised that the sharing of false information, including hoax messages, is illegal because of the obvious negative impact that the sharing of untruths can have. The hoax in question is being investigated.

If ever you are unsure of the credibility of a message, please check with the relevant credible sources, such as your lecturer, residence manager or the University’s official platforms.
