Take advantage of Vooma Vaccination weekend

Mandela University is playing its part to support the national Vooma Vaccination campaign to vaccinate up to 500 000 people this weekend because only by working together can we beat this pandemic.

As shared by President Cyril Ramaphosa last night we urgently need to vaccinate another 16 million people this year to reach 70% of the adult population and save lives!

For us, as an institution, increased vaccination numbers means there is greater hope of returning to some semblance of normalcy on our campuses.

Pop-up site information

Please see a list of pop-up sites in the metro and province http://www.echealth.gov.za/ for the weekend. This is being shared on our social media platforms and we’re encouraging you to distribute the information with family and friends. No pre-registration is required. You simply need your ID, passport, asylum or refugee number and take it to the nearest site. Vaccinations are free.

Missionvale Campus vaccination site

To assist with the national drive, we’re opening our Missionvale Campus Indoor Sports Centre from 8am to 1pm tomorrow (Saturday) with our Student Health Services team manning the site for vaccinations.

Beachfront site

The closest site for our Summerstrand students and staff will be at the Shark Rock Pier parking area at Hobie Beach. It will be operating as a drive-through and walk-in site and will also be hosted by Student Health Services in collaboration with Department of Health nursing staff. They began operating today (until 4pm) and will start again tomorrow from 8am until 4pm and at the same time son Sunday.

Student Health visits expanded to TVET Colleges

Closer to home, our professional health colleagues are expanding their support to the youth by also taking the vaccine to TVET college students. This will begin after recess during the week of 11 October. This service is in addition to the vaccination outreach already underway to our own Mandela University students.

Making progress – milestone achievement

Thank you to those who have been vaccinated, whether on or off-campus. We are close to reaching the 2000 milestone for Mandela University students on campus.

Upload your vaccine information

Please upload your vaccine information to enable the collation of more accurate vaccination numbers for Mandela University. This is compulsory information for all workplaces, institutions and organisations in terms of the Occupational and Safety Act.
