Together We Can … Volunteer your expertise in fighting COVID-19

23/04/2020

Throughout the world, people from all nations, races, ages and capabilities are coming together to do what they can to fight the pandemic that has changed life as we know it.

Nelson Mandela University is committed to playing its part in supporting local, regional and national efforts to prevent the spread of the virus and has formed a number of workstreams to this end.

Volunteer Platform

As a student, staff member and/or an alumnus, you can also volunteer your expertise, knowledge, time, skills and talents in response to these areas (see below) and other needs.

To volunteer go to the Together We Can page.

The University is facilitating this site in partnership with other organisations across the metro and province. It caters for both volunteers, as well as entrepreneurs or SMMEs seeking outlets in offering their services.

Your offer will be shared with the appropriate teams, be they within or beyond the University.  You will be contacted if, and when, your services are needed, and provided with the necessary support in terms of your own wellbeing.

If you are a staff member, you should consult your line manager before volunteering to ensure that the service and support you are offering does not negatively impact on your day-to-day work commitments.

Offers in kind

In addition, you can also use the volunteer form to make other offers – such as the donation of goods, materials for masks, transport of goods and so forth.

COVID-19 Response Workstreams

They are:

Tell us your story

Furthermore, we’d like to capture your story in terms of what you and/or your department/faculty are doing in the face of the pandemic. Please share by sending an email to cm@mandela.ac.za so that we can follow up with you.

Thank you in anticipation for your support.
