In keeping with the Act, the University is responsible for having a full medical surveillance programme in place, given the highly transmissible nature of the coronavirus, and hence the need to officially capture vaccine-related facts.

While this information is for reporting purposes only and is confidential, it will allow the University community to monitor its own progress towards achieving herd or population immunity and ultimately, a return to some semblance of normality on our campuses in Gqeberha and George.

The new online tool which can be found on both the staff and student portals requires the following information for each jab:

• Your name
• Site of vaccination
• Date of vaccination
• Name of vaccination
• General comments

Additionally, you will need to upload your vaccination passport as proof of the supporting information to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Arrangements are being made for line managers to assist colleagues who do not have easy access to computers.
