Statistician

Statisticians collect, process, interpret and analyse numbers and data in order to make decisions. They can conduct statistical research in a chosen specialised field, or plan and conduct experiments or projects to collect and analyse information in various fields.


Available Qualifications:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR CURRENT GRADE 12 LEARNERS

  • Minimum NSC statutory requirements for degree entry must be met.
  • An applicant with NSC Grade 12 Mathematics requires a minimum Applicant Score of 410.
  • NSC achievement rating of at least 60% for Mathematics OR 65% if the applicant is planning to major in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics and Physical Science.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS WHO MATRICULATED PRIOR TO 2008

  • Learners must score at least 34 points on the university’s SPS rating scale.
  • Matriculation exemption/endorsement. Maths minimum HG=E or SG=C.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR CURRENT GRADE 12 LEARNERS

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS WHO MATRICULATED PRIOR TO 2008

  • Learners must score at least 34 points on the university’s SPS rating scale.

  • Learners must score at least 31 points on the university’s SPS rating scale.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR CURRENT GRADE 12 LEARNERS

  • An applicant with NSC Grade 12 Mathematics requires a minimum Applicant Score of 390.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students wishing to register for this degree must be in possession of an Honours degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics and have demonstrated ability in the chosen area of specialisation.  They must, in addition, have completed any prerequisites prescribed for the modules which make up their curriculum, or must otherwise satisfy the Department of their ability to perform the work of the courses.
