Lawyers can either be attorneys who dispense legal advice and handle a large variety of affairs for individuals, companies and associations or advocates, who specialise in various areas of the law, especially in the presentation of cases in court.


Available Qualifications:

 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Minimum NSC statutory requirements for degree entry must be met.
An applicant with NSC Grade 12 Mathematics requires a minimum Applicant Score of 410.
NSC achievement rating of at least 65% for English Home or 70% for English First Additional Language.
NSC achievement rating of at least 65% for Mathematics.
 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS  
 
  • Minimum NSC statutory requirements for degree entry must be met. 
  • An applicant with NSC Grade 12 Mathematics requires a minimum Applicant Score of 390. 
  • An applicant with NSC Grade 12 Mathematical Literacy or Technical Mathematics requires a minimum Applicant Score of 405. 
  • NSC achievement rating of at least 65% for English Home or 70% for English First Additional Language. 
  • NSC achievement rating of at least 50% for Mathematics or 75% for Mathematical Literacy or Technical Mathematics. 

 

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • English (home language) – 65%, or English (first additional language) – 70%
  • Mathematics – 50%.

  • An applicant with NSC Grade 12 Mathematics requires a minimum Applicant Score of 370.  
  • An applicant with NSC Grade 12 Mathematical Literacy or Technical Mathematics requires a minimum Applicant Score of 385.  
  • NSC achievement rating of at least 60% for English Home or 65% for English First Additional Language.  
  • NSC achievement rating of at least 45% for Mathematics or 70% for Mathematical Literacy or Technical Mathematics.  

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to the study for the Postgraduate Diploma only if they:

  • have obtained a 4-year LLB or an appropriate Bachelor’s degree or a qualification deemed by Senate to be equivalent thereto; and meet the professional registration requirement and such additional requirements as may be determined by Senate; and
  • have obtained a mark of at least 55 in the major modules of the degree or diploma.
  • candidates may be required to supplement their knowledge to the satisfaction of the Head of the Department;
  • candidates may be required to write an entrance examination, provide a portfolio of evidence or do an oral examination before being considered for selection; or
  • have been approved as candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma by the Faculty of Law Research, Technology and Innovation Committee, on the recommendation of the Head of the Department.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to the study for the Postgraduate Diploma only if they:

  • have obtained a 4-year LLB or an appropriate Bachelor’s degree or a qualification deemed by Senate to be equivalent thereto; and meet the professional registration requirement and such additional requirements as may be determined by Senate; and
  • have obtained a mark of at least 55 in the major modules of the degree or diploma.
  • candidates may be required to supplement their knowledge to the satisfaction of the Head of the Department;

  • have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of postgraduate studies in Law.

 

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to the studies for the Master of Laws/Magister Legum Criminal Justice course work and research degree only if they have obtained a Bachelor of Laws/Baccalaureus Legum degree
  • or a qualification deemed by Senate to be the equivalent thereof, and have achieved an average mark of at least 60% for the aforementioned degree or qualification,
  • and have been approved as candidates for the Master of Laws/Magister Legum (Criminal Justice) (Coursework and Research) degree by the Faculty of Law Postgraduate Studies Committee, on the recommendation of the Head of the Department following a selection process approved by the Faculty of Law Management Committee. 

 

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to the studies for the Master of Laws/Magister Legum Labour Law course work and research degree only if they

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Bachelor of Laws/Baccalaureus Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of postgraduate studies in Labour Law.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to the studies for the degree of Master of Laws/Magister Legum only if they

  • have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Bachelor of Laws/Baccalaureus Legum or the equivalent thereof, or
  • have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of postgraduate studies in Law.

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Bachelor of Laws/Baccalaureus Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of postgraduate studies in Taxation.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to the studies for the Master of Laws/Magister Legum (Taxation) course work and research degree only if they:

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Bachelor of Laws/Baccalaureus Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of postgraduate studies in Taxation.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum only if they:

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Master of Laws/Magister Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum only if they:

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Master of Laws/Magister Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum only if they:

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Master of Laws/Magister Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum only if they:

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Master of Laws/Magister Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum only if they:

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Master of Laws/Magister Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Unless Senate decides otherwise, candidates shall be admitted to studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum only if they:

Have obtained an average mark of at least 60% for the degree of Master of Laws/Magister Legum or the equivalent thereof, or

Have, in the opinion of Senate, attained through practical experience or otherwise a level of competence which is adequate for the purpose of studies for the degree of Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum.
