| 1. What was your career goal when you first started university?
When I first started university, my career goal was to become a
Software Developer. I was drawn to this path because of my interest in Technology, problem – solving and
of course my love for computers. I took CAT in high school and that’s where my love for IT started and I was
fascinated by the idea of Software creation. University gave me the foundation to explore and evolve, and that
journey helped shape the career direction I’m pursuing today.
| 2. What experiences or opportunities at university best prepared you for your career?
Attending the university career exhibitions, Hackathons, Groupwork and the final year project really prepared
me. This helped me build rapport with my fellow classmates & lectures, learn how to apply theoretical content in
real-World scenarios and overall teach me how to effectively communicate and be a good team player.
| 3. What challenges did you face as a student, and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was time management. Managing complex assignments while learning
new technologies was overwhelming at first, and I often felt like I do not have enough time. I overcame this by
breaking my tasks into smaller parts, consistently practicing and actively seeking help from peers and lecturers.
Most importantly the support, patience and guidance from the lectures at NMU played a big role in helping me
succeed and I’m truly grateful to each & every one of them.
| 4. How did you make the transition from university to the working world? Any tips you’d share?
I made the transition by applying what I learned in class to real -World projects. I also focused on improving my
soft skills such as communication, adaptability and teamwork. My tip: Always be open to continuous learning
and build a good working relationship with your team members as they are your support structure.
| 5. Is there something you wish you had done differently or taken more advantage of while at university?
Yes of course, I wish I had participated more in university societies and sports, as they offer great opportunities
for personal growth, networking, and build a well-rounded experience outside of academics. This was also
going to be a great opportunity to represent my university.
| 6. What advice would you give current students preparing for graduation and entering the job market?
Start preparing early-build a strong CV, create a portfolio of your work and always maintain a mindset that’s
open and willing to learn as some of the things you will learn at the job. Also, network with professionals, attend
career fairs, and don’t be afraid to ask for guidance. Most importantly, stay positive and let’s keep on flying the
Madibaz flag high.
