The main purpose and objectives are to conduct advocacy, education and training interventions related to social inclusion and equality promotion to advance an institutional culture that celebrates the fundamental constitutional values of the respect for equality, freedom, and human dignity, as well as advance the institutional values of, inter alia, diversity, ubuntu, integrity and sustainability.
“Memeza anti-GBV campaign” is an initiative that encourages people to speak up against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The intention is to create a platform for support, reporting and management of gender-based violence for students and staff.
“Singamadoda? Redefining Positive Masculinity” is an equality-driven, anti-GBV initiative aimed at fostering a safe space for young male students to dialogue, exchange ideas, and challenge masculinity and gender equality in our ways of being.
“Mandela Pride” is a diversity and social inclusion initiative that facilitates conversations about gender and sexuality amongst the Nelson Mandela University community. The objective is to contribute towards an institutional culture that affirms, supports, and celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community while actively resisting sexism, cissexism, heteronormativity, and other intersecting forms of unfair discrimination at the University.
