Mandela Uni Vaccine Training Workshops Underway

08/03/2021

Vaccine and vaccination information sharing sessions are underway as part of the University’s commitment to educate staff and students about the COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination rollout programme.

The first small mask-to-mask sessions conducted by qualified nursing staff among support services staff began last week in Port Elizabeth and will be moving to George Campus this week.

A short PowerPoint presentation – Vaccination 101 - offering basic information about vaccines and the rollout programme is followed by an opportunity for questions.

These sessions, which are being organised by Human Resources in consultation with Occupational Health, will also be offered online going forward.  They are aimed at helping staff and students to make an informed decision regarding the vaccination opportunity.

Phase 2 of the national vaccination rollout, which will include many staff members and some students is expected to begin in late April or early May.  The University is preparing to become an accredited vaccination centre for its staff and students.

The online training opportunity and the University’s own rollout plans will be shared once approved. Details are to follow.
