Olive Trees of Victory

Nelson Mandela University is symbolically recognising the recovery of its staff members from COVID-19 with Olive Trees.

Each one of the 68 staff members who have been cleared to return to work after testing positive from the coronavirus to date, will receive an Olive Tree sapling (see news story) and have their recovery symbolically marked as a new leaf on an online olive tree on our website.

COVID-19 survivor Skye Cronje, a Visual Arts Lab Technician, was the first staff member to receive from the University’s Occupational Health Services team (see Skye’s story), who initiated the idea in partnership with Horticulture Services.
